YouTube Go: Watch YouTube Videos Without Using Internet

Google today announced a new version of its YouTube app called ‘YouTube Go’ for India to battle with slow network connections. The project is part of company’s ‘Next Billion’ program through which it aims to connect India’s next billion people to the internet.

YouTube Go is a new app from Youtube for offline viewing and sharing YouTube Videos in android mobile. This is a separate app for  watching Youtube Videos Offline on android phone in slow internet.
The new app has been designed from the ground up and field tested with hundreds of users in 15 cities across India. It’s designed to work with little-to-no connectivity, use less data and serve up better recommendations and social experiences.

“YouTube Go is a brand new app to help the next generation of users share and enjoy videos,” YouTube product management VP Johanna Wright says in a statement. “YouTube Go was designed and built from the ground up with insights from India, in order to bring the power of video to mobile users in a way that is more conscious of their data and connectivity, while still being locally relevant and social.”

YouTube Go features video previews in the form of slideshows for each clip, so can get an idea of what it’s about before you stream or save it to your device. You can also see its file size before downloading, along with how much storage space you have left on your phone.

It also lets you send videos to others near you over Bluetooth – allowing you to share without having to worry about spending on data a second time.

Here are some of YouTube Go’s most notable features:
  • Find and discover relatable videos right on the home screen: YouTube Go homescreen features trending and popular videos in your area, so that you’ll find and fall in love with new videos that you and your community care about.
  • Preview videos before you save or watch: Not sure if you want to watch the video? On YouTube Go when you tap on a thumbnail, it’ll trigger a quick preview of the video, giving you a better sense of what the video is about before you decide to save or play it.
  • Choose your resolution when saving or streaming videos: Whether you’d like to save a video for offline viewing later, or stream it now, you can see and choose the amount of data you’d like to spend on that video.
  • Share videos with friends nearby: Share videos with friends and family nearby without using any data. You can send and receive videos instantly and offline with others using the YouTube Go app.
YouTube Go will be released to more users over the coming months, before a wide release in early 2018. You can sign up now if you want to hear as soon as it’s available near you.
